My work depends on the state of mind, abstract one time, figurative the
other, depending on the mood and need to express. Discover thoughts, painted
with harsh artificial light to create compositions which, condensed in time,
stand out, each one apart, in its own entirety. I invite the observer into the
thought process behind the work. and to caution against any definitive
interpretation.
Zaki Knapen was born in Antwerp, Belgium on September 23, 1953. Residing in
the States since 2001, Chicago, IL
He won many awards and competitions, national and international.
Appeared in many publications and in the August edition 2007 Artnews USA
Zaki is a member of the Naperville Art League, IL Art Institute of
Chicago and The Elmhurst Artists' Guild IL DuPage Art Guild. Chicago Art
